Listen LIVE to “Teach Me To Talk with Laura and Kate” on Thursday, December 4

“Teach Me To Talk with Laura and Kate” can now be heard LIVE on Thursdays at 6:00 pm Eastern Time.

On Thursday, December 4 we’re devoting a whole show to talk about using pictures to help children learn to communicate.  We’ll start by discussing the pros and cons of picture systems, define some different ways you can use pictures to improve both receptive and expressive language, and give you a list of things that will let you know when your child is ready to use pictures.

We’ll discuss PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and share our best tips for helping young children learn to understand and use this system.  If you’ve tried pictures before with little success, then tune in!  We may be able to offer some new and very practical ideas that will make this easier for your child and YOU!

As usual, we’re going to tell you all the mistakes that we and other therapists have made so that you can benefit from our experience and hopefully avoid the same goofs!

  1. Thanks to Kate for a great show about using pictures, particularly PECS, to work with non-verbal toddlers to teach them to communicate. I hope you’ll listen for yourself! It’s show #18 on the blogtalkradio column. Laura
